Many thought the Las Vegas Raiders would trade back into the first round after selecting Fernando Mendoza. We created a trade scenario that would have Vegas back in the first, but in the backend of the first, around picks 24-32. Obviously, that didn’t happen.

But they pick early in the second round at No. 36, then again in the third round at No. 67. They have plenty of options left and a ton of talent still on the board. So, with each pick, I’m going to break down players from my Horizontal Big Board that would be fits at each position. At pick No. 36, I think there should only be a few positions even considered, and that’s WR, DT, CB, and S. At 67, really anything is on the board.

Friday is going to be fun. So, let’s get into everything we could possibly see.

Best available players for the Raiders at No. 36

Wide Receiver

Denzel Boston, Chris Bell, and Germie Bernard are the three WRs I’d even entertain drafting at 36 if I’m the Raiders. However, there is a caveat. Boston is more of a late first-round guy, so he could be gone by 36, which is also a bit early for Bell. The Louisville WR is also recovering from an ACL injury. Bernard may end up being the best football player out of all of these guys because of his ability to do whatever is asked of him. However, taking him at 36 feels a bit too high. But those are some good options if they choose to go that way.

Defensive tackle

Obviously, this is the big one, because Kayden McDonald seems to be the guy everyone wants the most. He can play nose tackle and is an elite run stopper, but could work on some of his pass rush stuff. Then there is Lee Hunter and Christen Miller. Those two feel like they may go more so in the 40s than at 36. But they are both very good run-stoppers who can play nose, though maybe a bit more refined in their pass-rush game. The Raiders have options there as well.

Cornerback

Of course, Jermod McCoy is the polarizing name here. He was a guy who entered the week as a potential top-ten pick. However, some teams began to distance themselves from him after a report surfaced that he may have a more serious knee issue than everyone anticipated. However, he is elite, and maybe the best cornerback in the draft if he didn’t have injury concerns. Do you take that risk there? Or, do you go with a guy like Colton Hood, who also played for Tennessee and is pretty good? D’Angelo Ponds, a nickel at the next level, should be available, along with Clemson CB Aveion Terrell.

Saftey

This is maybe the biggest need on the roster. We all know the story—they have three safeties on the roster, all with one year left on their deal, and none can cover well. At this pick, you could have your choice between Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, who isn’t really a centerfielder, but can matchup well with tight ends, has coverage tools, and good route anticipation. Or, you could go elite zone coverage guy with AJ Haulcy, who struggles with run game angles. Then there is Treydan Stukes, a nickel who can be a centerfielder. However, he has a bit smaller frame to come down in the box on blitzes. Keionte Scott is also an option, but maybe later in the second round.
