The Philadelphia Eagles just made the splashiest move of night two of the 2026 NFL Draft. It did not even involve drafting a rookie prospect, either. Instead, they are trading for a Pro bowl talent to improve their defense.

Eagles trade for Vikings EDGE rusher Jonathan Greenard

According to Adam Schefter, the Eagles are trading for Pro Bowl pass rusher Jonathan Greenard from the Minnesota Vikings. The Eagles are sending a 2026 third-round pick (no. 98) and a 2027 third-round pick in exchange for the veteran defender.

The Eagles are also signing him to a four-year extension worth $100 million. They are committing to him long-term after moving legit draft capital to acquire Greenard.

This is a Howie Roseman move in a nutshell. Pass rusher was one of the biggest needs on the entire Eagles roster entering night one of the draft.

Since the Eagles have gone offense with both of their first two selections between rounds one and two, they find a way to add proven talent off the edge via a trade.

It is a smart move that helps them bolster their defense for another playoff run this season. With the extension, he can lead the pass rush group for years to come and take pressure off young players like Jalyx Hunt and Nolan Smith Jr. for now.
