NFL insider squashes growing narrative surrounding former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Ty Simpson’s landing spot in L.A.
There was a lot of talk that the Rams may have been internally divided on Ty Simpson. That was just disproven by a longtime Rams reporter.
The Alabama Crimson Tide had a first-round pick selected in the 2026 NFL Draft for 18 consecutive years. That speaks to the dominance that Nick Saban created, and Kalen DeBoer’s ability to continue it.
When Kadyn Proctor went in the first round at 12th overall, it was a bit of a surprise, but he was largely believed to be a first-rounder. The same was thought of Ty Simpson, but not quite as high as 13th overall. That immediately created fodder surrounding the Rams’ decision, and the reaction from Sean McVay didn’t help that situation, but as the dust has settled, it’s clear that everyone is on board.
Jordan Rodrigue clears the air on Sean McVay vs. Les Snead with Ty Simpson
“I knew they (Sean McVay and Les Snead) were on the same page on this, they do not go rogue. These guys, listen, Sean, they don’t go rogue. And Sean McVay will have had to absolutely weigh in emphatically about whatever the first pick is behind the scenes, because otherwise they don’t make the pick,” said Jordan Rodrigue of the Athletic via the Check the Mic podcast on YouTube.
“They don’t pick players that he (McVay) does not want. Social media let me know, like, how wrong I was about the about that, but I was in the room for a year, guys. They don’t go rogue. They just don’t.”
The idea that one of the best coaches in the league, and a Super Bowl champion, who is also offensive-minded and a quarterback guru, would allow his general manager to draft a quarterback that he either didn’t want or didn’t sign off on is laughable in my opinion.
This further proves that the Rams, one of the best teams in the league, and an organization that has gone to the Super Bowl with two different quarterbacks, were sold on Ty Simpson.
