Former Vols DB Colton Hood goes viral for teaching the NFL commissioner his ‘signature move’ from his time at Tennessee
Former Tennessee Volunteers defensive back Colton Hood was selected by the New York Giants in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Hood was the first former Vol selected in the draft.
Former Tennessee Vols defensive back Colton Hood went viral during the 2026 NFL Draft for teaching NFL commissioner Roger Goodell his “signature move” from his time on Rocky Top.
Hood, who spent one season at Tennessee after spending time at Auburn and Colorado, became well-known last season for his “Hoodie” celebration.
After making a big play, Hood would mime putting a hood over his head.
It’s one of the more original celebrations you’ll see, given the former Vol’s last name.
Hood taught the celebration to Goodell during the draft.
The former Vol was asked about the celebration after getting drafted by the Giants.
“I came up with it actually in the spur of the moment,” said Hood. “Right before my first PBU of the season — actually the night before — me and my roommate Ty Redmond, we were talking about celebrations we were going to do. And I was just trying to think of a celebration. And I was like, ‘Bro, I want to do something that nobody else has done or that nobody else is doing.’ And in the spur of the moment, I thought of that because my last name’s Hood. And it kind of stuck.”
Hood was the first former Tennessee player selected in the 2026 NFL Draft.
