Adam Schefter’s projected trade return for A.J. Brown isn’t going to make Eagles fans very happy
The A.J. Brown trade saga rages on following the 2026 NFL Draft. A recent update from NFL insider Adam Schefter may not be what Philadelphia Eagles fans want to hear about a potential return in the deal.
Fans of the Philadelphia Eagles are letting their opinions be heard on social media, following a recent report from Adam Schefter regarding the status of an A.J. Brown trade.
At this point, especially following WR Makai Lemon’s first-round selection by Philly, trading away Brown seems more like a “when” rather than an “if” for the Eagles.
Adam Schefter thinks Eagles WR A.J. Brown could get traded for 2028 draft capital
Schefter gave an update on the trade talks and what he expects the outcome to be later in the offseason.
The insider thinks that Brown gets dealt in a post-June 1 deal, but the compensation for the Eagles may actually be headlined with a 2028 first-round pick, instead of one in 2027.
“I expect that this trade will come together on June 1st.“
“It’s not gonna be hard to get done. The Eagles are open to moving him, the Patriots want him, and I believe in the end it will involve a future first-round draft pick. My guess is 2028, one in 2028. But, let’s see what the two sides finally figure out there in the end.”

This sort of return for the Birds wouldn’t be a bad one, given it is just the one 2028 pick. That being said, the Eagles would be trading a potential Pro Bowl talent, who is still just 28 years old, for compensation they won’t even get to use next year.
That would be a tough pill to swallow for Eagles fans who want their team to keep reloading in talent on an annual basis to stay in the Super Bowl hunt.
Roseman has found ways to get the most out of a trade in the past, though. He just did it by trading just two third-round picks for Pro Bowl EDGE rusher Jonathan Greenard during this year’s draft.
That being said, if the valley in between Brown and the Eagles is simply too big, the exec may be forced to take a first-round pick down the road, rather than in the upcoming draft in 2027. The Eagles may be cornered here, so we will see how it all works out for both them and the New England Patriots.
