Broncos get major Bo Nix recovery update as implications for the 2026 season opener become clearer
Quarterback Bo Nix is doing everything in his power to get back on the field after suffering an ankle injury during the divisional round win against the Buffalo Bills. The latest update provides some clarity on where the ascending star stands with his r ecovery.
The Denver Broncos were having a healthy quarterback, Bo Nix, away from going to the Super Bowl. That’s a hill that I will forever die on. Nix was injured during the closing moments of the divisional round win against the Buffalo Bills. The ankle injury ended his season, forcing backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham to come in for relief.
Now, all eyes are on 2026 as Nix continues to rehab from his injury. The latest update confirms the initial timeframe that we had heard just a few short weeks ago.
Bo Nix had a successful procedure on his ankle
Ian Rapoport reported that Nix had a follow-up cleanup procedure on the fractured ankle. It was a successful and anticipated follow-up clean-up procedure. The team is expected to be conservative with his participation during the offseason.
As Rapoport suggested, Nix continues to make strong progress in his recovery and remains firmly on track to be ready for the start of training camp.
It’s been a slew of good reports from Denver on Nix’s recovery
The update from Rapoport comes less than two months after Jim Nantz opened up about what he saw from Nix at The Masters. An exciting update for Broncos Country.
“There were a lot of NFL guys hanging around Augusta,” Nantz said. “I ran into Drake Maye, I ran into Bo Nix, who looked very healthy here. He was walking around.”
Bo Nix, looking “very healthy,” is a good sign for his rehabilitation. Just him being able to walk around the golf course was a sight to see, according to Nantz.
“It was fascinating, Bo and Drake took the whole Augusta experience in together,” Nantz said. “And you said it earlier, the undulation, the grade at Augusta, it is up and down more than anybody could ever imagine. So Bo and Drake spent a couple of days together hanging out.”
Bo Nix 2025 season stats
The second-year quarterback led his team to the No. 1 seed in the AFC in 2025.
- 17 games played
- 388-612 (63.4% completion percentage)
- 3,931 yards with 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions
- 83 carries for 356 yards and five touchdowns
It seems like Nix will be all systems go once training camp comes around, and that is about as good news as you can get this time of year.
And if everything stays on track, that’s when things get real again.
Because this isn’t just about getting Nix back on the field, it’s about picking up right where he left off. A No. 1 seed, a red-hot offense, and a team that genuinely looked like it had a Super Bowl path before everything came to a screeching halt.
If Nix is truly “all systems go” by training camp. Broncos Country won’t just be getting their quarterback back; they’ll be getting their window back.
