Predicting Notre Dame’s most likely ending to their 2027 recruiting class on the offensive line – Push for an elite group
Who are the remaining 2027 offensive line recruiting targets to know for Notre Dame? This has a chance to be an elite overall class.
Notre Dame football is off to a solid start when it comes to offensive line recruiting in the 2027 class. With commitments from Pittsburgh (Pa.) Central Catholic offensive tackle James Halter and Green Bay (Wisc.) Notre Dame Academy standout Richie Flanigan, head coach Marcus Freeman, offensive line coach Joe Rudolph, and the Fighting Irish are big game hunting to finish the group.
With a couple of elite options remaining on the board for the Irish, the next couple of months are going to be critical for cementing an outstanding class. Here are the top options on the board, including one huge wildcard. This could end up being the top position group for the Fighting Irish in the entire 2027 class.
Here are the names to know, the latest, and what is on the line moving forward.
THE COMMITS
Here are the current 2027 offensive line commits for Notre Dame.
OT James Halter – Pittsburgh (Pa.) Central Catholic
When Halter joined the Notre Dame class, it was a commitment that wasn’t discussed enough. He is an Irish legacy who would be a priority recruit even if he wasn’t. Halter is an outstanding athlete who plays a rugged style. There is a lot to love about Halter.
IOL Richie Flanigan – Green Bay (Wisc.) Notre Dame Academy
Flanigan has largely been a forgotten member of the 2027 recruiting class for Notre Dame. As an Irish legacy and a lower-ranked recruit, there just isn’t anything exciting about Flanigan. While he could also play defensive tackle, it appears that the offensive line is in Flanigan’s future.
TOP REMAINING TARGETS
Here are the most important remaining targets to know for Notre Dame.
OT Cameron Wagner – St. Joseph (Ill.) Ogden
The Wagner recruitment has been an interesting one to watch. Notre Dame has been the team to beat for a very long time, and there also doesn’t appear to be a second-place team right now. This one feels like a no-brainer. It would be shocking to see the 6-6, 300-pound offensive tackle land anywhere else than South Bend.
OT Layton von Brandt – Middletown (Del.) Appoquinimink
Like Wagner, it feels like only a matter of time until von Brandt ends up in the 2027 Notre Dame class. Ever since von Brandt decommitted from Penn State during the season, the Irish have been considered to be the potential team to beat. The 6-6.5, 275-pound offensive tackle is extremely talented, and the team continues to push extremely hard.
THE WILDCARD
There is one major offensive line recruiting wildcard to watch for Notre Dame.
IOL Albert Simien – Lake Charles (Louis.) Sam Houston
Make no mistake about it, Notre Dame is pushing very hard for Simien. They are battling LSU and Texas A&M for the talented offensive lineman, and I do think they will have a chance in the end. Simien and his family didn’t grow up watching LSU football, which has allowed the Aggies and Fighting Irish to remain in this recruitment. We will see how much of a chance that Notre Dame has in the end.
