The LSU Tigers could be receiving some very good news in the not-too-distant future.

And it’s because of head coach Lane Kiffin.

On3’s Sam Spiegelman predicted on Friday that LSU will land 2027 four-star wide receiver Miguel Whitley.

Whitley, 6-foot/180 pounds from New Orleans, LA, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 28 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 8 player in the state of Louisiana.

Spiegelman noted that LSU has “strengthened their position” with Whitley following Kiffin’s arrival in Baton Rouge.

“Arkansas and Ole Miss have both taken big steps forward in the race for top-100 WR Miguel Whitley, who was on campus at both SEC contenders last month,” wrote Spiegelman. “LSU has and continues to set the pace in Whitley’s recruitment, and the Tigers have strengthened their position since Lane Kiffin and the new staff arrived in town. The in-state prospect is someone I envision being a part of this 2027 class.”

Whitley, who will take an official visit to Baton Rouge on June 19, told 247Sports recently that the Tigers’ track record of sending wide receivers to the NFL is a big part of his interest in playing for LSU.

“It definitely plays a role because they have all these receivers getting drafted,” said Whitley. “So obviously, they’re doing something to develop receivers to where they’re making it to the next level, so that’d be a place I’d want to go.”

The expectation is that Whitley will announce his commitment later this summer after taking his official visits.
