Notre Dame football has a massive recruiting week in front of it, hoping for some good news from a couple of elite 2027 recruiting targetsJersey City (NJ) St. Peter’s Prep offensive tackle Oluwasemilore and Chicago (Ill.) St. Patrick defensive tackle David Folorunsho. With commitments set over the next few days, head coach Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish are working diligently to close the deals.

The Irish are riding a ton of momentum over the last several weeks. Based on some recent conversations that I have had, I don’t expect that to slow down anytime soon, and that includes this week. Here is the latest with both Olubobola and Folorunsho. These are two recruiting targets that Notre Dame wants desperately.

There is confidence building with each of them. Now it is time for the Irish staff to close the deal.

OT Oluwasemilore Olubobola – Jersey City (NJ) St. Peter’s Prep

Before Olubobola made the trip to South Bend a couple of weekends ago, Notre Dame was considered a school of interest for the talented offensive tackle. Coming out of that visit, they quickly became the favorite for the 6-7, 295-pound offensive lineman. So much so that the timeline for Olubobola has sped up quickly, and he will now make his college decision on Tuesday. The New Jersey native will be selecting between Notre Dame, Miami, and Texas A&M.

Heading into Tuesday, Olubobola is a very firm lean to the Fighting Irish. It would be surprising to see him land with any program other than Notre Dame in the end. Olubobola is ranked as a five-star, the No. 15 overall player, the No. 3 offensive tackle, and the No. 1 player from the state of New Jersey for the 2027 recruiting class, according to the 247 Sports Composite ranking. This would be a huge addition for the 2027 Irish class, and it is expected.

DT David Folorunsho – Chicago (Ill.) St. Patrick

A local talent to South Bend, Folorunsho has been a massive priority for the Fighting Irish. The 6-4, 285-pound defender is an outstanding athlete up front, spending a lot of time at defensive end for St. Patrick. Folorunsho projects best on the inside, where he possesses some elite overall tools. On the 247 Sports Composite ranking, Folorunsho ranks as the No. 43 overall player, the No. 3 defensive lineman, and the No. 2 player from the state of Illinois for the 2027 class.

After some Texas Tech buzz several weeks ago, the Fighting Irish and Miami have been battling this one out. There continues to be a lot of confidence on the Notre Dame side heading into his announcement on Friday, and there is no reason to feel differently for me right now. The Fighting Irish staff is also hot on the trail for the likes of Brayden Parks, Abraham Sesay, Jackson Vaughn, and Marcus Fakatou for a potentially elite defensive line class. They are the favorite for four out of five of those targets right now, including Folorunsho.

New defensive line coach Charlie Partridge has the inside track to solidify an elite 2027 haul. It would be quite the recruiting statement.
