Cleveland Browns’ new quarterback has delivered m a strong message that shows he’s lacking zero confidence ahead of his first season
Cleveland Browns rookie QB Taylen Green brings a unique skillset to the NFL and he made sure to let folks know he’s one of one already.
There are a lot of questions about the Cleveland Browns’ quarterback room for the 2026 season and what it can be. Cleveland is hoping for a revival from Deshaun Watson or a breakout from Shedeur Sanders. The Browns do have some intrigue in the room as well.
Todd Monken was given a rookie quarterback to work with in the sixth round when the Browns selected former Arkansas QB Taylen Green. Green figures to be the No. 3 quarterback for the Browns, but he does offer something no one else in the NFL does.
Taylen Green is lacking zero confidence already as a rookie with the Cleveland Browns
If the Browns were going to add another rookie after taking two last season between Sanders and Dillon Gabriel, it needed to be on Day 3. Cleveland taking a high upside quarterback on Day 3 made a ton of sense and they did it with Greem, who is unlike any other QB in the NFL at the position.
“To be honest, no,” Green said if there was a QB he could compare to what he can be. ” “I would say of course, but he ain’t 6-6. Josh Allen is close, but I’m 230 [pounds], he’s like 260. My dad says Randall Cunningham-ish. I really don’t think there’s anybody like me. Not in a like cocky [way] or anything, just some confidence. There’s nobody that moves like me, that’s as tall as me.”
At 6-foot-6 tall and 230 pounds, Green brings 4.36 40-yard dash speed to the Browns and he’s an explosive athlete with a 43.5-inch vertical jump. The mental part of being a quarterback is where Green has struggled in college, but he’s in a great place physically to make an impact. There’s a chance the Browns could use him in red-zone opportunities this year or in goal-to-go situations. Monken at least has the door open to doing it.
There’s no telling if Green will get on the field for the Browns in terms of starts in 2026. If the past means anything, then he will probably end up getting the chance to start multiple games for Cleveland.
The preseason will be a chance for Green to get a bunch of run and he’ll likely make some splash plays with his ability to really let it rip deep, or take off and running. Already in rookie minicamp he’s sounded a lot like a guy who has full confidence in his ability to stick in the NFL.
