The Tennessee Vols have a new home run celebration, but no one on the team knows where it came from

The Tennessee Volunteers have debuted a new home run celebration after having one of the most recognizable celebrations — the fur coat and the daddy hat — in college baseball for the last six years.

The Tennessee Vols debuted a new home run celebration on Tuesday night during an 11-1 win over Belmont.

But none of the players (or the head coach) knows where it came from.

The Vols hit six home runs in the win against Belmont, and they put on a hockey goalie mask and grabbed a hockey stick to celebrate.

I don’t know if this celebration will take off with fans like the fur coat and the daddy hat did for the last several seasons, but there’s no denying that it’s unique.

It’s also a bit of a mystery.

Numerous players, as well as head coach Josh Elander, said after the game that they weren’t sure where the celebration came from.

But they have a hunch that it was Vols assistant coach Ross Kivett.

“I’m out of the loop on that completely,” said Elander. “I saw the hockey stick and the mask. It’s probably Coach Kivett.”

Maybe the hockey stick and the goalie mask will provide a spark for Tennessee as postseason play rapidly approaches.
