Ryan Coleman-Williams made a minor change in his routine that could lead to a big difference when he gets on the field in 2026
Alabama WR Ryan Coleman-Williams has changed a lot of things this offseason, but one of them has caught the attention of Kalen DeBoer.
Ryan Coleman-Williams underwent a lot of change in his life this offseason. He switched his jersey number from No. 2 to No.1. He changed his last name from Williams to Coleman-Williams, and he got engaged.
But beyond that, the star WR for the Alabama Crimson Tide decided to take his craft a little bit more seriously, and it even caught the attention of Kalen DeBoer.
Ryan Williams Facts
- Started games for the Crimson Tide at just 17 years old
- Mobile native who played high school football at Saraland.
- Was a unanimous 5-star recruit.
Kalen DeBoer mentions Ryan-Coleman Williams staying in Tuscaloosa this offseason
“He knows what it’s supposed to look like, knows what it feels like,” DeBoer told Greg McElroy on College Football on ESPN’s YouTube channel. “He’s been there. Here’s what I want to be careful of. He’s worked extremely hard. People, I think, think, oh, it’s a wake-up call for your football team or whatever it might be. Ryan’s been Ryan. Ryan works, and you’re never going to question the work ethic, the character, the personality.”
“He’s competitive as anyone you’re going to find, and it shows. Our team just loves that about him, what he’s done as a leader, being really the guy that’s probably taken as many snaps as anyone on the offensive side in particular. He’s in the weight room, and he can lead the charge.”
“He’s here this whole month of May. He might have little things on the weekends, he goes and does, but he’s here. Our guys are away from school for the most part. There’s a couple weeks where they do get that one time a year to get away. Guess who’s here? And that’s Ryan Coleman-Williams.”
Can Ryan-Coleman Williams get back to his 2024 form?
I don’t think it’s a matter of if, Williams returns to being one of the best WRs in the country in 2026. I think it’s how soon we talk about that happening. If you saw some of the leaked footage during spring, it was clear that is competive nature and stamina were at an all-time high, as he was baptizing some of the Alabama freshmen by fire.
Heading into what will likely be his final year at the Capstone, I expect a motivated and locked-in version of Coleman-Williams in 2026.
