Packers confirm growing suspicions with predictable front office moves to mitigate offseason losses
Milt Hendrickson takes over Jon-Eric Sullivan’s old title, and he’s now the most important personnel person under general manager Brian Gutekunst.
The Green Bay Packers lost vice president of player personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan this offseason, when he took over as the Miami Dolphins general manager. Unsurprisingly, they made a promotion to replace Sullivan and mitigate the front office loss.
On Tuesday, the Packers announced that Milt Hendrickson, who had been the director of football operations since 2019, is the new vice president of player personnel. That wasn’t the only promotion, though.
Milt Hendrickson is a top executive in Green Bay
Milt Hendrickson has had a close relationship with Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst for a long time. When Gutekunst was promoted to GM in 2018, he immediately tried to hire Hendrickson, but the Ravens blocked the move. When his deal in Baltimore expired in 2019, the executive joined Green Bay.
It was clear that he was the next man in line to take over right under Gutekunst. The Packers sent him to a revamped accelerator program during NFL owners meeting in Florida, an indication of how much they value his work.
Several front office changes
Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst also announced more promotions throughout the front office. Co-director of player personnel John Wojciechowski was elevated to director of football operations, Hendrickson’s previous position.
Director of pro personnel Richmond Williams has been promoted to director of player personnel. Meanwhile, senior player personnel executive Lee Gissendaner adds director of pro scouting to his role.
Director of college scouting Matt Malaspina has been promoted to senior player personnel executive. Assistant director of college scouting Pat Moore is now a director of college scouting. National scout Sam Seale is now a senior national scout, while Luke Benuska has been promoted from college scout to national scout. National scout Mike Owen is now the assistant director of pro scouting.
