Latest development around Cleveland Browns RB Quinshon Judkins is just what was needed at this point in the offseason
Quinshon Judkins went down with a tough injury at the end of last season that looked bad at the time. The latest around the second year running back out of Ohio State is promising at this point of OTAs.
The Cleveland Browns are on the field for voluntary OTAs this week in Berea, bringing us one step closer to training camp beginning in July.
Cleveland still has mandatory OTAs to get through next month. Ahead of the “important” practices beginning for the Browns, there’s an important development around one of the team’s most important players, RB Quinshon Judkins.
Quinshon Judkins looks to be all the way back from a serious injury
Cleveland losing Judkins in Week 16 last year looked really bad at the time. The former Ohio State Buckeyes star dislocated his ankle and fractured his fibula against the Buffalo Bills and missed the final two games of the season. The good news is Judkins looks all the way back.
It was a light practice for the Browns on Wednesday, but Judkins was out there moving around well, and there was no heavy support on the lower limbs of any kind, at least from what was noticeable from videos surfacing.
Judkins had 827 rushing yards and seven touchdowns in 14 games played for the Browns last season. Cleveland operated with a poor offensive line, but Judkins still looked the part as a rookie despite not having a lot of help. Even with the injury, the Browns were able to leave the 2025 season feeling like they got their running back of the future in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
The questions at running back for the Browns come after Quinshon Judkins
Cleveland is leaning on second-year RB Dylan Sampson to take a step forward in 2026 after having 175 rushing yards and 271 receiving yards as a rookie. The Browns need Sampson to take a jump forward, or he’ll risk losing the RB2 spot to someone else.
Raheim Sanders, Ahmani Marshall, and undrafted free agent T.J. Sanders are the other running backs on the roster to watch. Cleveland is going to lean heavily on Judkins in 2026, but a capable change of pace back still has to be able to step up, and pass blocking is going to play a key part.
