One Former Miami Dolphins standout likes what he sees from the team’s OTAs under Jeff Hafley

The Miami Dolphins will have plenty of opportunity to tell us who they are. But one former standout with the team seems to like what he sees already.

There’s a lot of ballgame left for the 2026 offseason. The Miami Dolphins, along with the rest of the league, are currently mired in Organized Team Activities (OTAs).

These will run for several weeks before breaking for the summer. And, when they return, the marathon will begin. For the Dolphins in particular, there’s a lot we have left to learn about everyone involved. That includes the players, the coaches, and the overall structure of things under this leadership group. But some clues are peeking through at OTAs, and one former Miami Dolphins standout who has had the chance to see it seems to like where things are headed in South Florida.

Former Miami Dolphins standout Kim Bokamper weighs in on the tone of OTAs under Jeff Hafley

“All the little details that mean a lot, you got coaches out there — I’ve seen coaches…where they don’t coach the details and when you see something happen in the middle of a game. You go, “Well, you know, you should have talked about that in practice.”

I don’t think these guys are skipping a stone in what they do in their preparation for this football team. And I’m happy about that. Like I said, everybody’s doing something and the fundamentals on on this football team are being hammered in, hammered in, and hammered in.

And look, if you don’t, there’s already already a couple guys that have been shipped out for some other guys. I think it’s a team that’s going to be doing that a lot certainly during training camp.”

– Former Miami Dolphins LB Kim Bokamper

On ‘Out To Pasture’, former Miami Dolphins first round draft selection Kim Bokamper weighed in on the tone and nature of OTAs. If you know Bokamper, who was drafted 19th overall in 1976 and played a decade for Don Shula, you know he’s an old school guy.

It seems that the effort under Hafley thus far has been able to scratch that old school itch. He must have said the word “fundamentals” no less than 10 times.

And you can bet that Bokamper is right about the roster churn, too. There’s going to be a sense of urgency around this roster — as both Hafley and general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan have alluded to. Their point: everyone with the Miami Dolphins has something to prove this season. The coach is a first-timer. The general manager is a first-timer. Don’t forget about the quarterback being a first-time starter, too. All of that adds up to a team that is going to move with purpose. So those fundamentals had better sink in now — or else, as Bokamper points out, the Miami Dolphins rebuild machine may come rolling through.
