The Miami Dolphins’ most important long-term mission is underway—and GM Jon-Eric Sullivan got a front-row seat to several names worth knowing
The weekend’s biggest matchup may have been a flop, but Miami Dolphins GM Jon-Eric Sullivan still got an eyeful of several top prosepcts.
The Miami Dolphins are going to build through the draft. General manager Jon-Eric Sullivan is adamant about the team’s intention to stockpile young talent on rookie contracts. Good! Great, even!
But the hunt for the right rookies to add to a team every year is a year-long process. Miami’s quest for the right rookies for their formative 2027 draft class kicked off this weekend, as college football was back in full force. And Sullivan, as the man in charge, reportedly dove head first into the effort himself. The game he watched was a flop, but the talent offered some big splashes anyway.

The LSU Tigers romped over the Clemson Tigers by a final score of 51-10, with LSU washing out the visiting team emphatically from the jump. LSU was the more enriched 2027 NFL Draft program, as well — with several potential early draft choices anchoring the roster. Primary among them is offensive tackle Jordan Seaton, a former 5-star transfer from Colorado. Seaton was terrific on Saturday night and looks the part of a top-10 draft choice. Miami may not end up having a need there — but his emergence would help the landscape of a deep early crop of talent for the 2027 draft.
The Dolphins stockpiled young tight ends this offseason, but only one with a heavy investment in the draft via ‘Y’ tight end Will Kacmarek. With Greg Dulcich on a one-year contract, it’s certainly hard to fully dismiss LSU star tight end Trey’Dez Green as an interesting option, too. Green is a legitimate 6-foot-6, 240 pound target with pretty special versatility. Green caught four passes for 58 yards on Saturday night.
And then there’s QB Sam Leavitt. Miami is in the process of churning their quarterback room behind starter Malik Willis but there’s not a lot of definitive confidence about anyone in the room long-term. Leavitt is an athletic dual threat quarterback who is hoping a new start with a new program can ignite his draft prospects. Leavitt finished last night 16/28 passing for 230 yards, one passing touchdown & one interception, plus 113 yards and two scores on the ground.
