It’s a massive recruiting weekend for the Ohio State Buckeyes with multiple highly touted recruits set to be in Columbus. Among those are five-stars DL Marcus Fakatou, RB David Gabriel Georges, and Texas Tech WR commit Benny Easter Jr.

There won’t be any quarterback recruits on campus this first big weekend, and it’s a position the Buckeyes still have a lot to work through with. Brady Edmunds is committed to the Buckeyes despite taking visits elsewhere, but Ohio State would like to add a second quarterback.

Ohio State has been connected to Nebraska commitment Trae Taylor the most recently, and he recently opened up on what it would take for him to look elsewhere than becoming a Cornhusker.

Trae Taylor admits what would make him look elsewhere than Nebraska

“I have the mindset like I have to be given a reason to not want to go to Nebraska,” Taylor said via Rivals. “I haven’t at all. I’ve been committed for a year so I don’t see that truly changing. But also I’m never gonna cut off a connection because I’m committed and it’s the same thing with coaches.

“I’m gonna continue to have my connections open but stay where I am and I’m committed to the University of Nebraska. I’m here now and I’m ready to go.”

Taylor has been firm with his commitment to Nebraska since he chose the Cornhuskers 13 months ago. The 6-foot-3 quarterback is moving to Nebraska to play at Millard South for his senior season of high school football. Ohio State visited him at his school in Illinois recently, their first real move to show they were seriously interested.

Ohio State has time to make a real push for Trae Taylor

The Buckeyes originally offered Taylor last June, but turned up the heat recently with four-star QB Champ Monds coming off the board to Notre Dame. Taylor is the No. 4 QB in the class of 2027 and No. 60 overall player, per 247 Sports Composite.

Taylor has been big on not visiting other schools and his only official visit scheduled is to Nebraska on June 19. Ohio State getting Taylor on campus either in the summer or fall has to happen if they want a chance at flipping his commitment.

There’s a lot left to play out for Ohio State in the class of 2027 at the QB position. The Nebraska commit is one we’ll have to keep an eye on.
