Notre Dame football is on the cusp of landing another outstanding secondary haul in the 2027 recruiting class. New secondary coach Aaron Henry walked into a tremendous group left by Mike Mickens and is hoping to continue building on it. The Fighting Irish currently hold defensive back commitments from Xavier Hasan, Ace Alston, John Gay III, and Zayden Gamble.

Head coach Marcus Freeman, Henry, and the Irish staff are still eyeing adding to that group. Texas defender Karnell “Greedy” James is one player to keep a close eye on, but he isn’t alone. It appears that Fighting Irish fans must also get to know 2027 Miami (Fla.) North Miami Beach safety Andre Hyppolite.

He was offered by Notre Dame back in February, but there hadn’t been a ton of conversation around him. Hyppolite will be making an official visit to South Bend on June 16-18, which is a great step for the Irish program. The Florida native will also be making official visits to Georgia, Florida, and Miami.

It is uncertain where things stand between Notre Dame and Hyppolite heading into that visit, but clearly, there is at least some intrigue. Whether Freeman and Co. have a chance with the talented defender will be determined by just how well that visit goes. Hyppolite is a talented player that Notre Dame fans should keep a very close eye on, along with James, who is still committed to Texas.

Andre Hyppolite’s recruiting background

Hyppolite is considered to be a three or four-star player, depending on which of the major recruiting platforms you look at. On the 247 Sports Composite ranking, Hyppolite is currently rated as a four-star, the No. 211 overall player, the No. 18 safety, and the No. 22 player from the state of Florida for the 2027 recruiting class. Rivals is the highest on him, ranking Hyppolite as the No. 105 overall player in the country.

A long and impressive group of programs has been pursuing Hyppolite. Some of his top offers included the Fighting Irish, Georgia, Florida, LSU, Michigan, Miami, Auburn, Florida State, Indiana, Louisville, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Colorado, Pitt, Georgia Tech, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Syracuse, West Virginia, and Wake Forest, among many others.

As a junior in 2025, the 6-1, 180-pound defensive back put together a tremendous season for North Miami Beach. On defense, Hyppolite managed to collect 63 total tackles and five interceptions. He also hauled in 32 receptions for 405 yards and four touchdowns on offense. This is a diverse and extremely talented overall athlete.
