Notre Dame football is quickly putting together an outstanding 2027 recruiting class. Head coach Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish have several key targets that remain heading into the official visit season. That includes several important wide receiver targets.

The Irish staff currently holds a commitment from 2027 Littleton (Co.) Valor Christian wide receiver Jackson Coleman, who was an interesting start, but more is needed. Let’s take a look at the remaining talented wide receivers that remain on the board. What is the most likely final wide receiver group for the team when all is said and done?

The top targets remaining

Here are the key remaining 2027 wide receiver targets to keep a close eye on.

Julius Jones Jr. – Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas

It feels like Notre Dame has been the leader for Jones for a very long time. At this point, it would be pretty shocking to hear anyone other than the Fighting Irish be the pick on June 27. With Jones being a Notre Dame legacy, he has long been an extremely important recruiting target. Add in his overall talent, including speed, and this is about as big a “can’t miss target” as there is on the board.

Osani Gayles – Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy

Notre Dame has a high opinion of Gayles, who brings a ton of explosiveness and big-play ability to the table. The Irish staff is battling against Alabama, Tennessee, USC, Washington, and Stanford. As of today, I would give the Crimson Tide the edge right now, but Gayles is set to make his official visit to South Bend on June 19-21. The Irish staff will have to knock that visit out of the park to pull the upset.

Myles McAfee – Severn (Md.) Archbishop Spalding

McAfee is a player that I am having a tough time getting a pulse on. There is clearly interest in Notre Dame, but I am also not sure how much of a push that the Irish would make for him. Ohio State, Virginia Tech, and Maryland are the other schools to know for the Maryland native. I will be interested to see where things go from here.

The most likely finish

As of today, Jones is the only remaining 2027 wide receiver target that I feel solid about. If I had to make a prediction, I think Notre Dame lands with the two wide receiver commits, which would be a light group, obviously. With Jones included, it wouldn’t be the end of the world, especially with all the young talent returning in 2027 from that room. He is the key to being solid with that 2027 class.
