Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes have been very busy lately as they build one of the top recruiting classes in the nation. The new additions over the last month have been impressive.

Five-star DB Donte Wright (Long Beach, CA) and five-star DL Jaiden Bryant (Irmo, SC) flipped their commitments from Georgia and LSU, respectively, to Miami. Four-star CB Ai’King Hall did as well from Oregon.

But Miami’s class got a big reinforcement on Wednesday evening without a single player being added to the class. Five-star Miami Carol City WR Nick Lennear, a Hurricane commit, announced on social media that he’s shutting down his recruitment and staying with the Canes.

Lennear pulled the trigger on the Canes back on March 5, giving Cristobal his first five-star player in Miami’s 2027 class. He ranks as the No. 24 overall player, No. 5 wide receiver, and No. 4 player in Florida. He picked Miami over offers from USC, Indiana, Texas, Auburn, and many others.

Lennear is the Hurricanes’ top-ranked local recruit, and he should form a nice tandem with fellow Miami 2027 commit QB Israel Abrams (Lombard, IL), who had a big showing at the recent Elite 11 camp.

Nothing is ever 100% until the dotted line is signed, but it certainly appears as though the Hurricanes have a potential playmaker locked down to join their program next year.
