Caleb Williams is calling his shot for a rematch against the top team standing in Chicago’s way of a Super Bowl that only got scarier

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams was asked about the Myles Garrett trade during the Madden NFL 27 event, and it’s clear he’s ready for a potential rematch against the Los Angeles Rams.

The Chicago Bears took a major step forward during the 2025-26 season under head coach Ben Johnson and a big reason why was because of the heroic late-game plays made by quarterback Caleb Williams.

Williams proved last season he’s on his way toward becoming an elite quarterback that can win big games for this team. However, the magical run stopped was finally stopped in overtime of the NFC Divisional Round against the Los Angeles Rams.

It’s clear that game left a sour taste in Williams’ mouth because he’s already calling for a rematch, even if the Rams got a whole lot scarier earlier this week.

Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams wants rematch vs. Rams, even after the Myles Garrett trade

Thursday night, Williams attended the Madden NFL 27 reveal event after being named the cover athlete for this year’s edition. That’s not the only big news that came out of the NFL this week. The Los Angeles Rams also made a blockbuster trade to acquire reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Myles Garrett, a move that skyrocketed the team’s odds of winning the Super Bowl.

Williams was asked about that massive trade and made his feelings crystal clear on the matter.

“Another she-wolf in the NFC,” Williams said during EA Sports’ Opening Drive event. “So we’ll hopefully see him at the end of the year, since he’s not on the schedule. Hopefully not. But if we do, it means we’re in the playoffs and we’re rolling. So, super excited. Good for them.”

Williams faced off against Garrett as well last season, in a 31-3 blowout. But, it’s a different story now with Garrett on the Rams compared to being on the Cleveland Browns. I agree with Williams in the sense that hopefully the Bears and Rams don’t run into each other again. But, man, it would be a legendary game if they do.

In my 2026 season predictions, I actually had the Bears going 12-4 and claiming the NFC’s No. 2 seed. In the bonus predictions, I had the Bears facing off in the NFC Championship Game against the No. 1 seed Los Angeles Rams. Maybe I was onto something there.

Head coach Ben Johnson was asked about the Garrett trade as well earlier in the week, but he had a more focused response.

“Not a whole lot of thought goes into it. We got our own business to take care of,” Johnson said.

There’s a long season ahead and you gotta respect the focus by the team’s head coach. At the same time, one can’t help but wonder what could happen if these two teams face off again in the playoffs this upcoming season.
