Key Ohio State football recruiting target has canceled his official visit to Columbus, and it ends the Buckeyes’ chances of landing him
Ohio State was expected to have a key safety visiting campus this coming weekend in Columbus, but it’ll no longer happening. The Buckeyes are out of the running for a key recruit after his visit to Tennessee.
The Ohio State Buckeyes have had a couple of key weeks recruiting recently. Ohio State has had several key visitors from the class of 2027 where they currently have 13 commitments.
Ohio State had top target five-star RB David Gabriel Georges on campus two weekends ago, and this weekend brought multiple key visitors as well.
Gabriel Georges was on his Tennessee visit over the weekend where another Buckeye target joined him. Coming out of the weekend, an Ohio State safety target is steering away from the Buckeyes.
Ohio State looks to be out of the running for a key four-star recruit
The June 12 weekend will be another important couple of days for Ohio State with visits. The St. James (VA) four-star safety Kenaz Sullivan was originally expected to visit after putting the Buckeyes in his final four, but that’s no longer the case.
According to GoVols247, Sullivan says he canceled his visit to Ohio State following his visit to Knoxville.
“After announcing a group of four finalists earlier this week that included Ohio State, he said Sunday that he “just canceled” his previously planned official visit with the Buckeyes next weekend,” Ryan Callahan of GoVols247 wrote.
Sullivan is rated as the No. 28 safety in the country and No. 291 overall in the class of 2027, per 247 Sports. Sullivan is the No. 4 player in the state of Virginia. Tennessee along with Florida and Maryland is among the schools still in the running for the 6-foot-1, 190-pound safety.
At this time it’s unknown exactly why the visit was canceled. Ohio State remains with two safeties committed current with four-star Eli Johnson and three-star Angelo Smith. The Buckeyes are looking to add a third potentially and Sullivan was thought to be a very possible option.
Ohio State is being a lot more pointed this year with official visits. There are a lot fewer of them happening and Sullivan not making the trip is another.
