Ohio State football has a major weekend ahead with a crucial visitor that’ll go a long way in keeping a key recruiting pipeline open
We’ve made it to another June weekend and it means Ohio State has a key couple days ahead with recruiting visits. The most important of this weekend will be a player who gives the Buckeyes a chance to keep a strong pipeline going.
We’ve made our way into another key recruiting weekend for the Ohio State football program.
Last weekend there were 2027 recruits like RB David Gabriel Georges, DL Marcus Fakatou, and WR Benny Easter Jr. on campus. This weekend will again bring multiple key visitors to campus in Columbus to see what the Buckeyes have to offer.
Ohio State will be looking to keep its Glenville pipeline going
Of the visitors this weekend, 2027 Glenville (OH) LB Kaylon Bailey is a player I’ve tabbed as the most important. The talented linebacker is another Glenville linebacker the Buckeyes have their eyes on just like they did with Arvell Reese and most recently Cincere Johnson. Bailey is a 6-foot-1, 225-pound linebacker from a familiar pipeline that linebackers coach James Laurinaitis would love to add.
Bailey has 19 offers with teams like Louisville, South Florida, Wisconsin, Syracuse, and Pittsburgh showing interest. Colorado is another school in the mix and is expected to be a school that would be willing to pay a higher dollar amount for Bailey. According to 247 Sports Composite, Bailey is the No. 63 linebacker in the country and No. 743 recruit nationally in 2027.
Ohio State has a proven track record with its ability to land athletic linebackers from Glenville and to then develop them. Bailey is a player who has pass-rush upside and could eventually be an EDGE player in college with some added weight.
Kaylon Bailey could add to another strong class for James Laurinaitis
The Buckeyes already have two linebackers committed with four-star LB Quinton Cypher and four-star LB Prince Goldsby. Each year Laurinaitis labels multiple linebackers he sees as fits for what Ohio State wants to do. Bailey would be an athletic scheme fit for Matt Patricia’s defense, one they’d have some fun developing.
This weekend’s official visit will be a key step in what Ohio State’s 2027 linebacker haul looks like. Ohio State is going to stick to its dollar amount with Bailey and if both sides agree, he’ll be a Buckeye.
