Recruiting insider drops key NIL note related to Ohio State football’s plans with five-star RB David Gabriel Georges
Ohio State is all-in on five-star RB David Gabriel Georges, but they’re going to have to beat out Tennessee to land him. The latest update on what Ohio State is prepared to do NIL wise is a positive development.
We’re well over a month out from when 2027 five-star RB David Gabriel Georges is expected to make his college announcement on July 22. If things go Ohio State’s way, they’ll be adding their most important recruiting target over Tennessee later this summer.
Ohio State hosted Gabriel Georges for an official visit on the weekend of May 31, and Tennessee got the elite running back recruit in for a visit this past weekend. These are the two schools at the top of Gabriel Georges with official visits to Ole Miss and Georgia still ahead.
Before the visit to Tennessee, things seemed in favor of the Buckeyes. Since the visit to Knoxville, it seems to be a real toss-up on where Gabriel Georges is going to end up playing in college.
Ohio State is set to be aggressive on the NIL front for RB David Gabriel Georges
If you want to land premier talent on the recruiting trail in the year 2027, you have to pay up, and not in a small way. Ohio State is ready to be aggressive in its chase of Gabriel Georges when it comes to the money front.
“OSU will be as competitive as they’ve ever been on the NIL front for a prospect,” Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong wrote recently. “They have shown Gabriel Georges a plan that includes early playing time right out of the gate and they have a great relationship with the family and stand on a program that historically and recently boasts great offenses and backs that hear their names called early in the NFL Draft.”
Ohio State hasn’t spent big on the running back position in a couple of years since they landed Quinshon Judkins in the transfer portal after the 2023 season. Landing Gabriel Georges would be the highest-rated addition at the running back position for the Buckeyes since TreVeyon Henderson in the class of 2021, and he was the No. 1-rated running back.
The Buckeyes have the relationship with running backs coach Carlos Locklyn working on their side. Also, Ohio State’s ability to develop players and propel them into the NFL stands out. Despite Gabriel Georges being from Canada, it’s still going to be tough to get him out of Tennessee where he plays high school ball.
The Vols are putting up big resources and at the end of the day — I believe they’ll offer more money than Ohio State will. It’s an encouraging note for the Buckeye that they’re going to be aggressive with what will soon be their final pitch.
We have what will be a long month and nearly two weeks until Gabriel Georges makes his commitment — and a lot of noise is going to circulate between now and then.
