Ohio State football QB commit Brady Edmunds drops a very telling quote after his official visit to another Big Ten school that leaves major doubt
Ohio State football has a bit of a QB question that needs answered in the class of 2027. The Buckeyes have Brady Edmunds committed, but it might not be the case for long after a visit to UCLA.
Ohio State football wants to take two quarterbacks in the class of 2027, but there’s a chance they could soon have zero commitments at the position with the latest news around four-star QB Brady Edmunds.
Edmunds has been committed to Ohio State since December of 2024, but he’s opened his recruitment up more so as of late. The California product took an official visit to UCLA over the past weekend, leaving him with a tough decision to make.
Ohio State’s quarterback commitment appears to be up in the air
“The visit went really, really well,” Edmunds said via Rivals. “Whatever expectation I had it definitely surpassed it. I’m still getting through my Ohio State OV and camp. As of now, I don’t know where I’m going.
“UCLA definitely hit the spot. My family really loved it there. It definitely won them over so just trying to navigate from here and we’ll see in the next month-and-a-half or so.”
It sure sounds like UCLA head coach Bob Chesney and the Bruins have Edmunds’ main attention. Edmunds is set to take his official visit to Columbus the weekend of June 19, and that visit now stands out as crucial for the Buckeyes. If Ohio State wants to keep Edmunds in its 2027 haul, the visit needs to go extremely well.
Edmunds, who plays high school football at Huntington Beach in California, wouldn’t have to go far to play for the Bruins. UCLA has seen an uptick in recruiting with the new staff and they’re clearly going hard after Edmunds.
Ohio State has a lot that needs to play out at the QB position in 2027
The Buckeyes have been interested in four-star QB Trae Taylor, who is currently committed to play at Nebraska. If the Buckeyes want to get in contention seriously for Taylor, it would take Edmunds being out of the class. Taylor wants no part in a two-quarterback class, especially to leave his Nebraska commitment for.
Ohio State needs quarterback depth from the 2027 class. It feels unlikely they’ll get two Big Ten-level QBs from this class like they want. And it feels more likely that Ohio State will take one and then a transfer portal player. Either way, there’s a lot of doubt floating around for Edmunds to stay in the class.
