The Ohio State Buckeyes want to take two quarterbacks in the class of 2027, but have just one committed in the class with Brady Edmunds. Nebraska commitment Trae Taylor has been a recruit to watch with the Buckeyes.

Edmunds continues to keep other options despite being committed to Ohio State, and it adds another layer to what the 2027 class could look like in the end.

With Edmunds keeping his options open, it’s been the UCLA Bruins and Northwestern showing the most interest. The latest development around the Ohio State commitment isn’t exactly good news.

Brady Edmunds is set to take an official visit to another Big Ten school

News broke on Tuesday evening that Edmunds will be taking an official visit to UCLA beginning on Friday. It’ll be the first official visit for Edmunds ahead of his scheduled official visit to Columbus later this month.

“I’m going to take an official visit to UCLA this weekend,” Edmunds said via Rivals. “Everything is fine with Ohio State, I had a good home visit with them but I don’t want to close the door on anyone right now.

“It’s a long way from now until Signing Day. UCLA is the local school and it’s easy to get over there for a visit and they have a great staff and a great future ahead so I’m looking forward to checking them out.”

The Huntington Beach, California quarterback has been on the radar of UCLA for some time now and Bob Chesney’s staff paid a visit to him last month at his high school. UCLA getting Edmunds on campus for an official visit isn’t the biggest deal with him committed to play in Columbus, but it’s also not something to ignore.

Ohio State still stands in a good spot with Brady Edmunds

Edmunds is coming off a good showing at the Elite 11 and will be in Columbus for around a week later this month between camp days and his official visit. The 6-foot-5 California product will take his official visit from June 19-21.

Ohio State has had Edmunds committed to play for them since December 2024. Being committed to play somewhere for a year and a half with still months to go until signing is a long time in today’s age. As the Buckeyes keep looking for another quarterback to add to the class, Edmunds is rightfully keeping his options open as well

At this time, Edmunds remains a Buckeye with a key official visit upcoming. Still, the worry does grow a bit with him taking an official to another Big Ten school right in his own backyard.
