The Tennessee Vols “emptied the clip” during 2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges’ official visit to Rocky Top this past weekend.

Tennessee highlighted the strength and conditioning program (something that’s very important to DGG), they brought in Vols legend Alvin Kamara, and the rock on campus was even painted with a personalized message in French for the Quebec native.

It’s safe to say that Tennessee nailed the visit, but Ohio State, the Vols’ top competition in this battle, feels like they nailed it the previous week during Gabriel Georges’ official visit to Columbus.

So for now, this recruiting battle is still a coin flip.

Vols insider shares the details of David Gabriel Georges’ official visit to Tennessee

VolQuest’s Austin Price, who spoke with Gabriel Georges after his visit, joined 104.5 The Zone’s Ramon and Will on Tuesday and shared some details from the five-star recruit’s visit to Knoxville.

“I think Tennessee…emptied the clip, they shot all the bullets, whatever you want to say,” said Price. “They did everything they wanted to do. I think they impressed David Gabriel Georges. I think they impressed the family. I still don’t think a decision has been made one way or the other. I said going into the visit after Ohio State was feeling good, and he got all the predictions (to Ohio State), that I didn’t believe it was done then. I still don’t believe it’s done now.”

“He went through the photo shoot, and I don’t even think he did all the stations at the photo shoot,” continued Price. “He’s just not a ‘me’ kid. He’s just more low-key. And I think he just liked [getting] to hang out with his buddies — Jamyan Theodore, Gabe Osenda, those are guys (former teammates at Baylor School who now play for the Vols) that he’s known from Baylor — and just kind of chill. It was a chill weekend for him. Alvin Kamara came up. And they painted the rock for him. He got to do some of that stuff, but he still got to just see his buddies, and it made it feel like what it was like when they were all together at Baylor.”

Gabriel Georges is a big Kamara fan, so bringing him to town for the visit was an important move for the Vols.

“He loves Alvin,” said Price. “I think those two had spoken before at some point, I believe. But for Alvin to come up and see DGG on his visit, I think that definitely left an impression on him. Is it the end-all be-all? No…. but it provides an experience that makes you feel a certain way. And when I was talking to DGG after the visit, he brought up the rock. I was going to do it in the question, but he did it on his own. It stood out to him, and made him feel special. And I think Alvin coming up did the same. It’s not going to be why he picks Tennessee — if he picks Tennessee — it’s going to be just a nice cherry on top of the whipped cream that made the visit extra special for DGG.”

Price also said he believes Tennessee has offered Gabriel Georges an NIL package that he never could’ve imagined the Vols offering a running back a couple of years ago.

“[Tennessee] is pulling out all the stops with Alvin coming up, and so on and so forth,” noted Price. “But [they are] also bringing everything [they’ve] got from the rev share and NIL [standpoint]. And I believe Tennessee, if not the best (offer), is right there with Ohio State. Because there’s a lack of transparency on this whole thing, you don’t really know what the other side is doing. But I think Tennessee has offered a package that I don’t think I would have ever imagined them offering for a running back two years ago.”

Gabriel Georges is planning to commit on July 22. He’s supposed to take visits to Ole Miss and Georgia over the next two weekends. He will then likely take some time to make a final decision.

Tennessee has done all it can in this battle. At this point, it’s just going to come down to where Gabriel Georges feels the most at home.
