Tennessee Vols fans welcomed 5-star RB David Gabriel Georges to Knoxville for his official visit in an awesome and personal way
2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges arrived in Knoxville on Thursday evening for his official visit to Tennessee. Gabriel Georges is the Volunteers’ top recruiting target.
2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges’ official visit to Tennessee officially got underway on Friday morning.
And Vols fans welcomed him to campus in a fun and personal way.
Tennessee fans, as they’ve done for years for big-time recruits, painted the rock on campus with a message for Gabriel Georges.
But this message was a little different than the ones we normally see painted on the rock.
Gabriel Georges attends Baylor School in Chattanooga, but he’s from Canada and grew up speaking French.
So fans painted the rock with a welcome message in French — “bienvenue a la maison,” which translates to “Welcome home.”
Fans also painted an orange Power T encircled by a maple leaf.
Some of the Vols’ assistant coaches have spoken French to Gabriel Georges during past visits.
Tennessee is in a head-to-head battle with Ohio State for Gabriel Georges. The five-star running back took his official visit to Columbus last weekend.
Gabriel Georges also has official visits scheduled to Ole Miss and Georgia, but there’s speculation that he may not take those visits.
The Baylor School standout is planning to announce his commitment on July 22, which is the same week as SEC Media Days (Vols head coach Josh Heupel is scheduled to speak on July 20).
