Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray left no doubt this week on how former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jauan Jennings is viewed around the league.

Jennings, who signed as a free agent with the Vikings earlier this offseason, has a reputation for being a pest if you’re on the other side of the field.

But if he’s your teammate, you love him.

Kyler Murray says Jauan Jennings is a dirtbag…in a good way

While speaking with reporters at Vikings OTAs this week, Murray, who was in the same division as Jennings the last several years, said that the former Vol has always come off as a “dirtbag”.

“I played against him for multiple years,” said Murray. “I’ll say that he’s a lot smoother than I thought. Obviously, being on the other sideline, he’s always come off as a dirtbag type of guy. I mean dirtbag in a way of he just gets it done. It may not be pretty, but you know 14 (Jennings’ new number with the Vikings) is going to get it done. And again, being on the other side watching it, it’s been tough.

“I think the last time I played against him, he got into a fight and he got kicked out of the game. But that’s the type of energy he brings to the team and the energy he brings to the game. Obviously he loves it, he’s passionate, and I’m glad he’s on my side now. I know what he’s going to bring every Sunday.”

Earlier this offseason, Murray called Jennings a “dog” and said that he understands what kind of competitor he is.

And by the way, Jennings did get ejected from a game against the Arizona Cardinals when Murray was on the other side of the field.

That ejection came in the final game of the 2025 regular season and it cost Jennings a chance to eclipse 1,000 receiving yards in a season for the first time in his career (he finished the season with 975 receving yards).
