For the first time in his NFL career, former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jauan Jennings is playing for a team other than the San Francisco 49ers.

Jennings spent the first six seasons of his career with the 49ers before signing with the Minnesota Vikings as a free agent in early May.

Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray is a fan of Jauan Jennings

One of Jennings’ new teammates in Minnesota is quarterback Kyler Murray, who signed with the Vikings after being released by the Arizona Cardinals in March.

Murray, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, saw Jennings up close in the NFC West for the last six seasons.

And it should be no surprise that Murray recognizes Jennings as a “dog”.

“Jauan, honestly, getting to meet him now, it’s been great,” said Murray. “I understand the type of competitor that he is. He’s kind of given us fits for the past couple of years. He’s just really a dog. You throw it his way, pretty ugly, whatever way it gets done, you know. That’s the type of guy he is, and the type of energy and juice he brings to the team and to the field.”

Murray is far from the only person in Minnesota who feels that way about Jennings.

Vikings assistant head coach Frank Smith has also been quick to praise the former Tennessee wide receiver this offseason.

“He’s a YAC (yards after catch) machine,” said Smith on Terron Armstead’s YouTube channel. “I mean, ball skills, physical, tough. He’s done everything in San Francisco, as far as [moving] the chains through his receiving abilities, scoring touchdowns. But also his physicality and blocking.

“He’s a vet who knows what it takes, [and he’s] from a program (49ers) that knows how to win. I just think that it was awesome that we got it done. And you can already tell he’s a high energy guy and he’s ready to work.”

Vikings fans are absolutely going to love Jennings, just like 49ers fans did and just like Vols fans still do.
