Javon Foster was originally a fourth-round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2024 NFL Draft. He played four games for the Jags as a rookie, all on special teams as part of the field goal kick unit. He was waived by Jacksonville during final cuts in 2025, leading to the Bengals signing him as a member of the practice squad. Cincinnati kept him on the practice squad for the entire 2025 season.

Contract details

Foster signed a futures deal with the Bengals at the start of the offseason. His contract is for one-year, $1,005,000. His base salary, cash figure, and salary cap hit for 2026 is the same $1,005,000 amount.

Roster outlook

Foster was brought back to compete for a roster spot after spending an entire season on the practice squad. He’s yet to play on offense during a regular season game despite having decent draft status as a former SEC starter.

Making the practice squad once again should be the expectation for Foster. He’s got two years of development under his belt, giving him an advantage over rookie undrafted free agents Christian Jones and Corey Robinson II. A futures deal doesn’t always mean much, but the Bengals liked him enough after 18 weeks to bring him back for a full offseason. He’s on the outside looking in, but there are less likelier outcomes than him making the initial 53.
