The Denver Broncos had a legit shot at winning the Super Bowl last season. And, who knows, had Bo Nix not injured his foot before the AFC Championship game, we’d be talking about them as trying to defend their title. But the Broncos are not interested in ifs and buts.

Denver had to play the New England Patriots with backup QB Jarrett Stidham and still kept the game relatively close. With an improved roster and Bo Nix hopefully healthy, who knows what this team can do? And yes, you read that right, Nix is relatively healthy. He showed up for Mandatory Minicamp on Tuesday and participated a bit. There are even videos of him throwing to receivers on air. After practice, head coach Sean Payton gave a brief update on Nix and what’s to come.

Broncos head coach Sean Payton says Bo Nix will be ready for training camp

“There were certain things he didn’t do in team periods. He’s doing really well. He’ll clearly be ready in time for training camp. Good to have him out there in uniform,” Payton told reporters Tuesday.

Nix didn’t just blow the league out of the water last year. But he was a good quarterback, one who learned how to win in a new way. He won a ton of close games, and that’s valuable. Learning how to win in the NFL is important. Still, he finished with nearly 4,000 passing yards, 25 passing TDs, and 11 interceptions. He also finished with 356 rushing yards and five rushing TDs. His mobility is a huge part of his game, and you just hope that the ankle injury doesn’t mess that up.

But at Minicamp, he looks great, all things considered. He’s already throwing to his new weapon, Jaylen Waddle, and building that chemistry. Having Nix available for training camp would be amazing. We have seen in the past how much missing training camp can affect your season. Let’s hope Nix doesn’t miss much of it, if any.
