Sooners staff member begs the fan base to do what they failed to do in 2022 as the team prepares for the National Championship
The Oklahoma Sooners need all of their fans in attendance in Omaha for the National Championship.
The Oklahoma Sooners are trying to do what they couldn’t in 2022. Just a few years ago, OU baseball fell to the Ole Miss Rebels in the National Championship Series. Ole Miss, a historically great baseball program, had what OU didn’t: A ravaging fan base behind them in Omaha, Nebraska.
This time around, the Sooners need that, and every single bit of it. Toby Rowland of OU Radio begged the fans on his broadcast to show up more than they did in 2022.
Sooners Radio Play by Play Toby Rowland says fans need to show up to the National Championship
“Sooner fans listen to me right now… I don’t want you to take out a second mortgage… but if you are capable, if you are a college kid who goes to OU, if you are an OU fan… get here. The last time OU played for a title, they were overwhelmed by Ole Miss fans. That cannot happen again. Get here. Figure it out.”
The fans need to be there. North Carolina has a great baseball program and fan base, so they will be there. OU has a legit shot to win this thing. They are the hottest team in baseball right now on both sides of the ball.
And you have to know that no matter what happens, Skip Johnson is proud of his team.
“Well, I don’t know really what to say, but really proud of these young men,” Johnson said after the game. “When you go back and look at what we’ve done in the fall and the spring and never stopped believing, and those guys really turned it around on our year. And really, you’re looking at a baseball team, a selfless baseball team, which is really fun to be around. And hopefully I can just stay out of the way the next three, four games, or two games, or three games, I don’t even know.”
The Sooners could be calling themselves champions pretty soon.
