Miami Hurricanes get a surprising and positive sign from the top player in the 2028 recruiting class
The Canes have already have a tremendous 2027 class, and they’re already positioning themselves for a big 2028 group.
The Miami Hurricanes have built upon their 2025 success by putting together what could be a foundational class for the 2027 cycle. Mario Cristobal’s class currently sits at No. 2 in the nation in both 247 Sports and On3/Rivals. The Canes are currently the only program with more than two five-star commits in both outlets’ databases.
However, Cristobal and the Canes have already caught the attention of elite prospects for the 2028 class, and the consensus No. 1 overall player is high on the Hurricanes. So high, in fact, that he had to come to Coral Gables over the weekend and check out the program for himself.
Per EJ Holland of CaneSport/On3 Sports, Jacksonville (Mandarin) WR Brysen Wright made a “surprise” trip to Coral Gables last week to visit the Hurricanes.
Hurricanes got an unofficial visit from 2028 No. 1 overall player Brysen Wright
Wright looks like a college player already with a solid frame at 6-3.5 and 210 pounds. He ranks as the No. 1 overall player in the composite/industry rankings of both 247 Sports and On3 Sports. As one would imagine, he holds offers from every major program, including Ohio State, Georgia, LSU, Alabama, Oregon, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Florida, and many others.
As things stand now, the Hurricanes are the projected very early leaders for his services according to On3/Rivals, with Florida also on the board behind their in-state rivals. Miami is “warm” for Wright per 247 Sports, along with Florida and Ohio State.
As such, it’ll be interesting to see how things play out with Miami and their recruitment of the 2028 potential superstar as this season unfolds. If the Hurricanes’ passing attack, powered by Darian Mensah, Malachi Toney, and Cooper Barkate, is as high-flying as it potentially could be, Miami could show just what it has to offer for the budding Jacksonville star.
