Major Ohio State football target has been abruptly predicted to commit to Michigan, and it’s bad news for the Buckeyes
One of Ohio State’s top targets is trending toward Michigan, and it would be a bad outcome for the Buckeyes due to recent momentum.
The Ohio State Buckeyes have had an uptick in recruiting lately at the cornerback position specifically with 2027 four-star cornerbacks Deontay Malone and Jaden Carey both picking the Buckeyes.
Ohio State had been trending for 2027 Princeton (OH) four-star CB Monsanna Torbert Jr., especially after his official visit to Columbus on June 12.
Now, it appears the Buckeyes’ chances of landing Torbert are slipping away.
Michigan is now in the driver’s seat for a major Ohio State football target
The Buckeyes’ taking a commitment from Carey may have not necessarily sit well with Torbert, which was shared here at A to Z Sports last week. Ohio State is losing the lead for the Ohio product. Rivals’ Allen Trieu has placed a prediction for Torbert to commit to Michigan.
“Ohio State was the previous Rivals Prediction Machine leader, but this Victors Weekend has shifted things,” Trieu wrote. “Of course, Michigan was already making a move before that to get the visit, but now we see them as the clear leader.”
Torbert is a previous Indiana Hoosiers commitment who would be the top-rated cornerback if he were to commit to Ohio State. According to 247 Sports Composite, Torbert is the No. 13 cornerback and No. 102 player nationally. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound athletic cornerback has been a key target of the Buckeyes as of late, with Louisville another team making a hard push for the Princeton standout.
Ohio State doesn’t want to lose to Michigan on the field or on the recruiting trail. It doesn’t happen on the trail all that often, but this one appears to be heading that way. It’d be an unfortunate loss for the Buckeyes with a player they could really use in this class.
