LSU’s Lane Kiffin is on the verge of shoving another SEC head coach into a locker and it’s making fans smile in Baton Rouge
LSU Tigers head coach Lane Kiffin could be on the verge of making making another SEC head coach look silly, and it’s going to be to the delight of fans in Baton Rouge.
LSU Tigers head coach Lane Kiffin could be on the verge of asserting his dominance in the SEC by making another prominent SEC head coach look silly.
Kiffin and the Tigers are primed to flip two elite recruits from Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns.
Two elite Texas commits are on flip watch thanks to Lane Kiffin and LSU
The Tigers are viewed as the favorites to flip two of the Longhorns’ top 2027 commits.
2027 five-star wide receiver Easton Royal, who is from New Orleans, has been committed to Texas since last November, but he’s strongly considering flipping to either LSU or Florida.
And it’s LSU that’s in the strongest position.
“Multiple sources have identified LSU as the team in the best position to flip the blue-chipper away from Texas,” noted On3’s Sam Spiegelman on Wednesday.
Royal had a great official visit to LSU late last month.
“They made a very big, significant jump,” said Royal to On3 after his official visit to Baton Rouge. “They’re in a very good spot. They’re very close to Texas now after this weekend.”
Royal is from Louisiana, and LSU is tough to beat for in-state wide receivers. You’ve got to like the Tigers’ chances here.
LSU is also a candidate to flip 2027 four-star safety Greedy James, a Texas native who has been committed to the Longhorns since last December.
Spiegelman, in fact, predicted this week that LSU will flip James from Texas.
“After three official visits this summer, I believe LSU is right in striking distance in this one,” wrote Spiegelman. “I’ve logged a Rivals RPM forecast for LSU to flip James.”
Flipping those two elite commits from Texas would be quite the statement by Kiffin. And it would show Sarkisian that he’s not going to be able to raid Louisiana for talent or land just any player from Texas that he wants with Kiffin now at LSU.
The locker is open, and Kiffin has his hand on Sarkisian’s back.
