Former Las Vegas Raiders draft pick just blasted previous head coach Josh McDaniels on social media
The Las Vegas Raiders former coach, Josh McDaniels, turned the team from a playoff contender to one of the worst in the league.
Former Las Vegas Raiders safety Jonathan Abram used social media to voice his frustration with former coach Josh McDaniels, posting a picture of Allegiant Stadium on his Instagram story as he drove past it on the interstate.
The caption read: “I miss playing inside you. Josh McDaniels ruined everything we built. He should be arrested for sabotaging the organization and going back to New England.”
Abram played for the Raiders for 3.5 seasons, spending one year in Oakland and 2.5 in Las Vegas. The former first-round pick (No. 27 overall in the 2019 NFL Draft) was a strong safety who thrived in the box. However, he consistently struggled in coverage. That inability to cover eventually forced him out of the organization and, before long, out of the league entirely.
Abram’s career never matched his draft pedigree
After leaving Las Vegas, Abram bounced around the league, spending time with the Green Bay Packers, Seattle Seahawks, and New Orleans Saints. His last NFL action came in 2024, when he appeared in just three games. For his career, Abram compiled 311 tackles, five interceptions, and 17 pass deflections. He is still only 29 years old.
The frustration in his post is easy to trace. Abram was on the Raiders roster when the franchise went from a playoff team in 2021 to one of the worst in the NFL the following season under McDaniels. That dramatic fall clearly left a mark, and Abram isn’t shy about placing blame squarely on the former coach.
McDaniels’ tenure remains a sore subject for Raiders fans
McDaniels coached the Raiders for roughly 1.5 seasons before being let go, and the damage done during that stretch is well-documented. The roster went from competitive to gutted in short order, and the ripple effects lasted well beyond his departure. Abram is far from the only former Raider to express displeasure with how things unfolded during that era.
Whether Abram gets another shot in the NFL remains to be seen. His skill set as a box safety has value, but the coverage limitations that plagued him throughout his career make a return difficult. He’s on the outside looking in now, driving past the stadium where it all started and letting everyone know exactly how he feels about the man he believes derailed it.
