A major program is copying Ohio State football’s tactic to try and steal away an elite five-star player

Landing five-star DL Marcus Fakatou was a key step for the Ohio State Buckeyes to begin the week. There’s no doubt the top remaining target on Ohio State’s board is RB David Gabriel Georges, and his July 22 decision is going to be impactful.

Ohio State made an interesting chess move in its recruitment of Gabriel Georges last week. Ohio State offered unranked Baylor School S Jordan Darren Djila, and it marked his first Power Four offer. Ohio State might think Darren Djila is an underrated prospect, but there’s no doubt they made the move in hopes it would help them with Gabriel Georges.

Another SEC school is following Ohio State’s lead in David Gabriel Georges’ recruitment

Ohio State is battling Tennessee and Ole Miss for the nation’s No. 2 running back. It’s seen as a neck-and-neck race between Ohio State and Tennessee for the elite running back recruit with Ole Miss being a distant third. However, Ole Miss has now offered Darren Djila to become the second Power Four school to extend an offer.

Before Ohio State offered the 5-foot-11, 185-pound safety, his offers included schools like Kennesaw State, Dartmouth, and Georgia State. Darren Djila is a Canadian native, like Gabriel Georges, and the two are close friends and roommates at the Baylor School in Tennessee. There’s no guarantee that offering Darren Djila helps in the recruitment, but it certainly won’t hurt.

An interesting note is that Tennessee hasn’t yet offered Darren Djila. It would not be a surprise if they followed suit and did so soon. Ohio State was the first big-time school to offer Darren Djila, which should bode well for them.

Gabriel Georges will decide in just over three weeks on what school he’ll be playing for in college. There’s likely to be a couple more twists and turns in the recruitment before then. One thing is for sure, Ohio State’s move to offer Darren Djila was a good one, and now others are following suit.
