Ryan Rehkow Player Profile

Age: 27
Year: 3rd
Position: Punter
College: BYU
Jersey Number: 8

Ryan Rehkow was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Kansas City Chiefs following the 2024 NFL Draft. Prior to the NFL, he punted at BYU for four years from 2020-23. He was named second-team All-Big 12 Conference in final season in 2023, when he led the conference and ranked second nationally in punting average (48.4).

Kansas City waived Rehkow prior to his first training camp. Cincinnati signed him as a free agent at the beginning of camp, entering him in a three-way punter battle with Brad Robbins and Austin McNamara. He won that battle prior to the preseason even ending. He averaged 49.1 yards per punt (net average 42.9) in 2024, setting franchise single-season records and making the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team. He upped his average to 50.5 in 2025 and maintained his net average of 42.9.

Contract details

Rehkow is entering the second year of his two-year, $2,035,000 deal he signed during the 2025 offseason. His base salary, cash figure, and salary cap hit for 2026 is $1,075,000.

Roster outlook

The Bengals have been more than pleased with Rehkow the last two years. He brings the strongest leg the franchise has ever had at punter, and has two years under his belt holding for Evan McPherson placekicks. He’s also been in the top-12 in both yards per punt and net yards per punt in both seasons.

Rehkow’s name belongs in the discussion as one of Cincy’s best players. He certainly has a case for being the most underrated on the roster. He has no one in his way to play out his contract year, and becoming the punter and holder of the long-term future.
