Vols legend Alvin Kamara is doing Tennessee another big favor and it’ll make Josh Heupel very happy
Former Tennessee Volunteers running back Alvin Kamara is leaving no doubt this summer how much he loves his alma mater.
Former Vols running back Alvin Kamara is leaving no doubt this summer how much he loves Tennessee.
Kamara showed up to Knoxville in early June — while in the middle of New Orleans Saints OTAs — for 2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges’ official visit to Rocky Top.
Gabriel Georges, who is the Vols’ top remaining recruiting target, is a huge fan of Kamara.
And the former Tennessee running back coming to Knoxville for Gabriel Georges’ official visit left a big impression on the five-star recruit.
“The Alvin Kamara stuff, it matters,” said Gabriel Georges’ uncle to On3 after the visit. “I’ve been watching David consume a lot of Alvin Kamara highlights. It’s kind of surreal them having a relationship.”
Alvin Kamara is still trying to help Tennessee land David Gabriel Georges
Gabriel Georges, who is set to commit on July 22, has already made his decision, according to his uncle.
But that won’t stop Tennessee and Ohio State — the top two teams in this battle — from continuing to make their pitches to the coveted running back.
One way the Vols are still trying to woo Gabriel Georges is by getting Kamara to work out with him.
According to Tony Basilio, Gabriel Georges is “scheduled to meet and work out with former Vol running back Alvin Kamara who happens to be a player Georges is extremely fond of.”
Basilio added that he’s “learned that Georges has requested Tennessee’s running back workout training plan.”
We don’t know how much of an impact this will make on Gabriel Georges’ final decision — opinions are all over the place on whether he’ll land at Tennessee or Ohio State — but it’s clear that Josh Heupel and the Vols are doing all they can to bring the elite five-star running back to Knoxville.
