Ohio State QB commit Brady Edmunds drops key update as he weighs flipping his commitment to another Big Ten team
Ohio State still has to work through the quarterback position in its 2027 recruiting class. The Buckeyes’ current commitment Brady Edmunds has now set a timetable on when he’ll make a potential flip situation to UCLA.
The Ohio State Buckeyes have had a good few weeks in the class of 2027 with recruiting, and they hope the next couple is just as good with players like DL Karlos May and RB David Gabriel Georges set to soon make decisions.
Ohio State has its quarterback committed for now with four-star California recruit Brady Edmunds. However, Ohio State’s search for a second quarterback to add to the class forced Edmunds to start looking around himself.
Now, Edmunds appears days away from deciding whether or not to flip his commitment to UCLA.
Brady Edmunds’ latest recruiting update as the Buckeyes await word
Edmunds took an official visit to UCLA on June 5, then took one to Columbus the weekend of June 19. Following both officials, Edmunds made it a point not to make any quick decisions, instead to let some time pass.
“It was important to me that I didn’t make an emotional decision after my visits,” Edmunds said via Rivals. “Post-visit high is definitely a real thing.
“After my UCLA visit, I thought I was going to be a Bruin. Then after my Ohio State visit, I thought I was locked in with the Buckeyes. So for me, it was important to let everything settle and then really make a well-thought-out decision.”
Edmunds is rated the No. 20 quarterback and No. 251 overall player in the 247 Sports Composite rankings. Ohio State has held its commitment since December of 2024, which is a long time for a player to remain committed.
Early playing time won’t be in the cards at Ohio State, like it could be for Edmunds at UCLA with Nico Iamaleava likely off to the NFL after 2026.
“I’m still trying to sort everything out,” Edmunds said via Rivals. “I’m going to be sitting down with my agent next week to lay everything out. I should have a final decision soon after that.”
By the sound of it, Buckeye Nation should expect a decision from Edmunds within the next couple of weeks. One way or another, Ohio State will have word on the future of its QB position. Either the Buckeyes will have to turn up the pressure on adding another quarterback, or they’ll bring in Edmunds as their 2027 guy.
