The Ohio State Buckeyes still have a bit to work to do with the future of the quarterback position in the class of 2027.

Brady Edmunds has been committed to the Buckeyes for about 18 months, but the commitment has felt rocky as of late at best. Ohio State has been looking to potentially take a second quarterback in the class, and Edmunds has been giving major attention to the UCLA Bruins.

Brady Edmunds gets real about his commitment to Ohio State

Edmunds took his official visit to Columbus this past weekend shortly after an official visit to UCLA. The four-star quarterback from California opened up recently about why he’s looking elsewhere and leaving the door open.

“I couldn’t care less about that,” Edmunds said of Ohio State liking to take two quarterbacks, via Rivals. “It’s more about how I was feeling valued. I didn’t feel like I was getting the same love so I just decided to look out for myself because it’s a long, long way to signing day and I did (recently at UCLA) and it definitely surpassed my expectations and it became more of a real option than it ever was.”

The visit to UCLA is being taken very seriously as a school near home for him with a recent surge in recruiting with Bob Chesney leading the program. Edmund’s visit to UCLA has had positive reviews to this point.

“It definitely felt like I was valued a lot there,” Edmunds said of his UCLA visit, per Rivals. “They made it clear. They showed me their plan for me and it’s a very intriguing plan. They win, too. That’s kind of my thing. Growing up, UCLA has not been very good so I haven’t seen UCLA win.”

So it’s clear Edmunds doesn’t feel valued as the guy at quarterback for the Buckeyes in 2027. Ohio State looking for a second quarterback is definitely playing a part in it.

The next couple of weeks will tell which way Edmunds ends up going. In the end, it wouldn’t be surprising if Ohio State takes just one quarterback class and it isn’t Edmund’s.
