Texas Longhorns landed a player that is going to help elevate their 2027 recruiting class in an insane way
The Texas Longhorns have one of the best recruiting classes in 2027 because of Landon Williams-Callis.
The Texas Longhorns just added one of the most explosive recruits in the 2027 recruiting class. Five-star running back Landon Williams-Callis, the No. 3 running back in the 2027 class according to Rivals, committed to Texas over Texas A&M, SMU, Oregon, and LSU.
Williams-Callis is a 94.90 composite-rated player on Rivals and hails from Randall High School in Richmond, Texas. He stands 5’8, 190 pounds, and his NIL valuation sits at $300,000, according to Rivals.
Williams-Callis kept it simple when discussing his commitment. “It’s all God’s plan,” he said.
Williams-Callis’ historic production and DeAndre Swift comparison
The numbers Williams-Callis put up through three high school seasons are staggering: 7,554 rushing yards and 133 touchdowns. Those are historic totals for the state of Texas, and anyone who follows Texas high school football knows that level of competition does not play around.
Williams-Callis took four visits to Texas, five to Missouri, two to SMU, two to Texas A&M, one to Alabama, and one to Oregon before making his decision.
His combination of frame, speed, and running style has drawn comparisons to DeAndre Swift, one of the better running backs in the NFL. Williams-Callis is a stocky, shorter back with the ability to read blocks and tempo his runs at a high level. Both have similar top-end gears with the ability to pull away from defenses once in the open field.
Williams-Callis is a more productive runner at the same stage, though, given those historic yardage and touchdown totals in one of the toughest high school football states in the country.
Texas’ 2027 class is stacking up in a major way
This is a massive landing for the Longhorns. Their 2027 recruiting class has quickly climbed to No. 6 overall, according to On3. Texas holds the second-best class in the SEC behind the Oklahoma Sooners, and the talent they’ve assembled is impressive across the board.
The Longhorns now have two five-stars and 12 four-stars in the class. Beyond Williams-Callis, they have Ishmael Kamara, the No. 3 interior offensive lineman in the country, and Easton Royal, the No. 1 wide receiver nationally. Texas also added running back Noah Roberts from Chandler, Arizona, a four-star prospect who stands 6-1, 190 pounds, giving them depth at the position alongside Williams-Callis.
The Longhorns have stacked this class with potential difference-makers at multiple positions, and they show no signs of slowing down. If Texas keeps recruiting at this pace, the 2027 class could end up being one of the best in program history.
