Tennessee just landed a big-time quarterback, and Ohio State won’t like what might be coming next
The Tennessee Vols landed a 2028 four-star quarterback on Monday, and it could lead to some bad news for the Ohio State Buckeyes.
The Tennessee Vols made a splash on Monday by landing a commitment from 2028 four-star quarterback Kaden Craft.
Craft, 6-foot-4/210 pounds from Mooresville, NC, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 8 quarterback in the nation and the No. 4 player in the state of North Carolina.
Tennessee landing a commitment from Craft could actually lead to some bad news for Ohio State.
Tennessee and Ohio State are battling for a 2028 5-star wide receiver
The Vols and the Buckeyes are in the early stages of a recruiting battle for 2028 five-star wide receiver Braylon Clark, 6-foot-3/185 pounds from Charlotte, NC. Clark is rated by 247Sports as the No. 4 wide receiver in the nation and No. 2 player in the state of North Carolina.
According to Rivals, Ohio State has positioned itself as the early favorite for Clark. The Buckeyes were the only school Clark visited this summer. Tennessee, though, is working to move up his list. Oregon and Auburn are also in the mix.
Craft should be able to help the Vols move up the list because he’s played with Clark since he was six years old.
“I’ve played with Braylon since we were six years old,” said Craft to Rivals after committing to Tennessee. “He’s obviously going to be a big target. (Four-star linebacker) Ryan (Peterson) is another one I plan to work on. I am going to start putting together a list and start recruiting.”
It’s obviously not a guarantee that Tennessee will land Clark just because Craft committed to the Vols. But it will definitely help Tennessee’s case.
Vols wide receivers coach Kelsey Pope is quickly becoming one of the top recruiters in the country. Between Pope, Vols head coach Josh Heupel, and Craft, I wouldn’t be surprised if Tennessee eventually prevails in Clark’s recruitment.
