The 2027 NFL Draft quarterback class is shaping up to be one of the deeper signal-caller groups in recent cycles, and scouting sources around the league are already locked in on several names beyond the obvious headliners.

Earlier this week at www.atozsports.com, I released an early 2027 NFL Draft intel piece focused solely on quarterbacks, covering Texas star Arch Manning, Notre Dame’s CJ Carr, Ohio State’s Julian Sayin, and several sleepers. To continue that conversation, I’ve spent the last 36 hours talking to additional scouting sources about a handful of talented quarterbacks who deserve attention heading into the 2026 college football season.

Some are bigger names. Others fit squarely into that sleeper category. Here is what I have gathered.

Dante Moore (Oregon)

Moore might have been the second overall selection to the New York Jets had he declared for the 2026 NFL Draft. Instead, he chose to return for another year in Eugene, driven partly by self-awareness that he needed to get physically stronger, play in bigger games, and accumulate the game experience that matters when making the jump to the NFL.

When speaking to one current area scout who recently visited an Oregon practice, here is what they had to say about Moore:

“He’s up to 221 pounds from 204 pounds that he played at last season. He looks faster. He spent this offseason with Paul Skene’s mechanics guy to develop his torque more, and the ball is jumping off of his hands.”

For those who don’t follow Major League Baseball, Skeen is the star pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Working with a pitching coach is something pretty out of the ordinary that I haven’t heard about recently, but it will be worth keeping a close eye on.

That added weight gain of 17 pounds is a great thing to hear for Moore, who looked a little thin last season. Being able to utilize his legs more frequently, both in and outside of the pocket, will also provide a huge boost to his game. Hearing that he looks more explosive and has filled out his frame are all positive signs as he enters the year as a consensus top-2 quarterback in the 2027 class.

LaNorris Sellers (South Carolina)

There’s never been a question about the talent that LaNorris Sellers possesses. At 6-foot-3 and 245 pounds (the same weight as South Carolina star pass rusher Dylan Stewart), he’s a physical anomaly at the position, a dynamic athlete who will arguably have the strongest arm in the 2027 NFL Draft class. But he did not make the expected jump from 2024 to 2025 and decided to bypass the 2026 NFL Draft, returning for his redshirt junior year.

While it was a controversial decision to head back to South Carolina due to the underwhelming supporting cast around him, Sellers has reportedly shown a lot of growth this offseason. One thing head coach Shane Beamer did was hire Kendal Briles as the team’s new offensive coordinator.

Briles is one of the descendants of the Air Raid offensive system, which had some people shrugging their shoulders initially. But from the people I have spoken to around the league, Sellers has found a lot of comfort in this offense and is getting the ball out at a much faster rate.

This system is designed to keep things simple for quarterbacks, so although there will eventually be a deeper conversation about his mental capacity and ability to pick up a more progressive NFL playbook, this should unlock the overall physical gifts Sellers possesses. I feel a lot better about Sellers’ opportunity in 2026 than I did previously after hearing this scouting perspective from people I trust.

Jaden Craig (TCU)

Craig is a player who went a little under the radar after transferring from Harvard this offseason. He was the leading passer in Harvard football history, and some people thought he would eventually opt for the 2026 NFL Draft. Instead, he chose the transfer portal, where several teams pursued him, but TCU won out. That was a huge win for head coach Sonny Dykes.

Craig is a bigger pocket quarterback at 6-2¼ and 227 pounds, measurements verified by scouts on the trail this offseason. According to one source, Craig has absolutely blown this team away. TCU expected him to be good when they initially picked him up, but his ability to retain knowledge and get on the same page with his new cast of skill position players has been nothing short of phenomenal.

One scout told me, “This is the guy that everyone’s pegging as a mid-round pick that ends up going top 75 next year, if not higher. He has good tools overall, and seeing him in person, you really start to understand why people are so excited about him at TCU.”

Josh Hoover (Indiana)

After Indiana’s historic season and quarterback Fernando Mendoza heading off to be the No. 1 overall selection in the 2026 NFL Draft by the Las Vegas Raiders, many probably suspected a slight dip from the Hoosiers heading into 2026. Folks around Bloomington are very high on their 2026 team, however, and a big reason is the quick ascension they have seen from Hoover since he arrived this offseason via TCU.

Those around the program are raving about Hoover’s arm talent. Despite being roughly 5 inches shorter than Mendoza, there are people who believe his arm is actually stronger physically.

The biggest talking point, though, is that Hoover measured for scouts at under 6 feet this offseason, with most measurements coming in around the 5-11¾ area. That is less than ideal size overall, but it doesn’t diminish his ability to throw with velocity and test very small windows.

His upside probably won’t approach Mendoza’s due to those physical limitations from a size perspective, but don’t be shocked at all if his production nearly matches what Mendoza accomplished last season, especially with Charlie Becker and Nick Marsh serving as a couple of the pass catchers he is working with. Had Hoover declared for the 2026 NFL Draft, he probably would have been a mid-round selection somewhere between the fourth and fifth rounds.

He does have a chance to climb into the top 100 with a big season, and scouts who have been through Bloomington have been extremely positive about his progress from his TCU days.

Trinidad Chambliss (Ole Miss)

Chambliss was another quarterback who considered entering the 2026 NFL Draft class before appealing to get his final year of eligibility after transferring last offseason from Ferris State to Ole Miss. After Austin Simmons struggled with health a year ago, Chambliss took advantage of the opportunity and ran with it all the way to a deep College Football Playoff run.

He is another undersized signal caller, measuring just a hair under 6 feet, but he is densely put together at about 210 pounds for scouts this offseason. The character is reportedly off the charts. He’s incredibly well-spoken, and scouts are raving about their reviews of him on a personal level. With some of his size restrictions, there will be some who question the ceiling, but his floor is what people are gravitating toward.

One scout said, “That’s a kid that’s going to play in the NFL for a long time. He might just end up being a Tyrod Taylor type of player where he starts some but is always kind of viewed as more of a bridge, but that still is incredibly valuable in the NFL.”

His ability with his legs is a killer for defenses and debilitating at times. That’s a great thing to hear about Chambliss. While people don’t typically get excited about the floor of prospects, and you wouldn’t necessarily think of a smaller quarterback as possessing a high floor, that is what NFL teams tend to clamor for more than the media or public realize.

Chambliss had a tremendous year last season with the Rebels, and although they’re going through some coaching changes, there’s still a deep belief in him as an NFL prospect.
