The Kansas City Chiefs have assembled their first iteration of the 53-man roster, but they’ve still got one more chance to improve it ahead of the 2026 NFL season.

The Chiefs are ninth in the waiver wire order, their highest placement since 2013. That year, they had the top spot on the waiver wire. They also held a “second draft” of sorts during waiver wire claims. Could this year be similar at all? Keep in mind, NFL clubs must submit waiver wire claims by Noon CT on Monday, August 31.

Here’s a look at four players who were waived that could make sense for Kansas City.

Bengals DE Isaiah Foskey

A former second-round draft pick by the New Orleans Saints, Foskey had a standout preseason with the Cincinnati Bengals. He recorded two sacks during the preseason after appearing in eight games with Cincy in 2025. The 6-foot-5, 280-pound defensive end is more of the Steve Spagnuolo prototype the team currently lacks. He has that inside-outside versatility to be a factor in the run and passing game.

Browns DE Logan Fano

The brother of first-round rookie Spencer Fano, Logan, had a standout training camp and preseason with the Browns. He played at BYU before transferring to Utah and going undrafted this past spring. He’s listed at 6-foot-5 and 252 pounds, which is a good size for an edge rusher in Kansas City’s scheme. The 23-year-old is the type of player who wins based on sheer effort and willpower.

Chargers LB Junior Colson

A third-round pick out of Michigan in the 2024 NFL Draft, Colson missed all of the 2025 NFL season with a shoulder injury. This preseason was all about proving that he still had it, and he did just that. He had a 16-yard interception return for a touchdown during the preseason. The Chargers’ deep linebacker room made Colson expendable, with Troy Dye, Daiyan Henley, Del’Shawn Phillips, Denzel Perryman and Marlowe Wax all earning roster spots.

Falcons TE Jack Velling

If the Chiefs are looking for a young tight end to add to the mix, Velling could be on the team’s radar. A former Oregon State Beaver and Michigan State Spartan, Velling went undrafted in 2026. In the preseason, Velling caught six of seven passes for 41 yards, including his first NFL touchdown against the Miami Dolphins. He also looked solid on special teams and has some ability as a blocker at 6-foot-4 and 245 pounds.
