Vikings Practice Squad Tracker: Tracking Minnesota’s moves to strenghten the roster
One day after setting the initial 53-man roster, the Minnesota Vikings are filling out the practice squad.
The 2026 season is less than two weeks away, and the first 53-man roster has been filled up for the Minnesota Vikings. There were some interesting elements to the roster general manager Nolan Teasley put together ahead of his first season. One of those was the inclusion of four quarterbacks.
They aren’t going to keep four quarterbacks on the roster for much longer. It will likely culminate in either a J.J. McCarthy trade or the release of Max Brosmer. We did learn earlier on Monday that McCarthy’s recovery timeline will be multiple weeks.
The only way you can have the emergency QB3 active on gameday is if he’s on the active roster, and with McCarthy not being put on injured reserve or traded, it makes sense to keep him around. It also makes a quarterback on the practice squad less likely.
There will be some changes with the practice squad moving forward, and this is how it is currently constructed.
