Less than 24 hours after finalizing the initial 53-man roster, the Minnesota Vikings have made a couple of waiver claims, both of which came on the offensive line. They added center Nick Samac and guard Trevor Keegan. It was necessary after the Vikings placed center Michael Jurgens on injured reserve to start the season.

The Vikings were awarded two waiver claims, both on the offensive line:

C Nick Samac (Carolina)
G Trevor Keegan (Dallas)

Minnesota Vikings claim two offensive linemen

It was a necessary move for the Vikings to make waiver claims on the offensive line. They didn’t have nearly enough depth on the line, especially at center. Blake Brandel has struggled to snap the ball, which honestly shouldn’t be an issue at all.

What they did get is two players who shined during the preseason. Samac was Pro Football Focus’ top graded center, which would certainly be an improvement on what they have overall. He was a seventh-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in the 2024 NFL Draft, and has plenty of size at 6-4 and 314 pounds.

Keegan is another former teammate of J.J. McCarthy’s at Michigan, and was a 2024 fifth-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles. The 6-6, 320 pound guard has only played in three games in the NFL, but has the ability to be a starter in the NFL. Plus, he has center versatility.

There will be two corresponding roster moves to add both players to the roster, but we don’t have that information at this time. We will update that as we learn more.
