Lane Kiffin dropped some comments after LSU’s blowout win over Clemson that Dabo Swinney is not going to recover from
The LSU Tigers absolutely dominated the Clemson Tigers on Saturday night in Baton Rouge.
Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers made a loud statement on Saturday night in Baton Rouge.
For the last week, a lot of folks (including myself) have suggested that LSU’s players would be distracted in the season opener against Clemson due to the drama surrounding Kiffin’s efforts to add former NFL players to the roster.
And, well, that wasn’t the case at all. It was quite the opposite, actually.
LSU looked as locked in as a team can be in a dominant 51-10 win over Clemson.
Dabo Swinney will never recover from Lane Kiffin’s post-game comments
LSU was obviously confident going into the game, but even they may have been surprised at just how much of a beatdown it was against Clemson.
Kiffin, in fact, said after the game that he was surprised at how dysfunctional Clemson was on offense.
He also said the scout team scored more against LSU’s defense in practice this past week than Clemson did.
“I thought it’d be like 35-7 or 35-10,” said Kiffin on the field after the game (via David Hale). “I didn’t know they’d be that dysfunctional on offense.”
Kiffin also made the comment about LSU’s scout team outscoring Clemson to ESPN’s Laura Rutledge.
Sheesh. This is a tough look for Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney. I mean, it feels like it’s over for Dabo.
Clemson has been trending in the wrong direction for the last several years. A non-competitive showing on national television in Baton Rouge certainly feels like the beginning of the end.
It’s just Week 1, and we’ve seen teams make a big improvement after a poor showing in the season opener, but there aren’t many reasons to believe that’ll be the case for Clemson after what we saw in Baton Rouge on Saturday night.
