LSU is looking to bounce back from a tough loss to Kentucky.

The Tigers will host Mississippi State on Saturday afternoon in Baton Rouge. It’s a must-win game for LSU as the Tigers likely need to win out to reach the 12-team College Football Playoff.

It’s also a must-win for LSU head coach Lane Kiffin if he wants to quiet the noise after two early season losses.

“I don’t think if we lose this game that we can bounce back from this,” said former LSU wide receiver Jarvis Landry this week. “I think if we lose this game, the people in Baton Rouge, the people in Louisiana, we’re gonna be heartbroken. I ain’t lying.”

Former Tigers running back Leonard Fournette agrees, and he had a message for Kiffin.

“Coach Lane and LSU players, I don’t like speaking on wins or losses,” said Fournette. “But just know this: if the home scoreboard is not higher than the away scoreboard, all hell is gonna break loose in Baton Rouge. I can promise you that.”

“If LSU loses this game, I don’t want to see another damn celebrity walk in the Tiger Walk,” added Landry. “… That’s all good when you’re winning, but when you’re not winning, it’s a distraction.”

The pressure is certainly ramping up for Kiffin right now.

And while Kiffin will be quick to point out that it’s year one and he’s still building the program, Fournette suggested that it’s fair to judge the controversial head coach right now.

“LSU is a winning culture,” said Fournette. “You have to come in and win. Yes, I think it’s fair to offer judgment after year one — especially with the accolades he had, and how we went to bat for him when they tried to [kick] LSU out of the SEC.”

LSU is favored by 14.5 points against Mississippi State. This is not a game that Kiffin can afford to lose.
